History Of Food & Supply Source

Starting Out

In 1999, Michael Foley was working in the food industry and saw that the human service sector was often neglected and overcharged on their purchases. He followed his instinct and founded FoodSource Plus by garnering a few regional and independent food distributors, starting in the Northeast. These distributors agreed to longer credit terms, smaller order sizes and lower pricing. Michael was able to attract human service agencies to join FoodSource Plus and benefit from the savings he had negotiated on their behalf.

Expanding Services

With increased nutrition awareness and a push for healthier eating on a national level, in the early 2000s we acquired a proprietary software and dubbed it “NutriSource.” We offer the software reporting to any customer purchasing through our network, free of charge. NutriSource provides nutrition analyses, custom menus, production schedules, cost summary reports, HACCP instructions, recipe books and more. Many of our customers who are required to follow CACFP guidelines and report nutrition data to a regulatory authority such as USDA, enjoys the ability to access our free reports and services. Food & Supply Source has Registered Dietitians on staff to provide you with expert consultation for your nutritional needs.

Duplicating Success

In 2012, understanding the need for non-food related items, we developed a sister company called SupplySource. We followed the same business model with a variety of supply and service companies willing to lower their pricing for our customer base. SupplySource was founded to save human service agencies money on office supplies, janitorial products, linens, educational supplies, maintenance services, and transportation, just to name a few.

Today

As of 2016, FoodSource Plus and SupplySource have rebranded as “Food & Supply Source.” Since its founding, the company is endorsed by more than 50 state and national membership associations. With over 3,000 customers across the U.S., Food & Supply Source has become the preeminent solution for human service agencies. Our staff has hundreds of years of foodservice experience that we parlay into helping customers save money, improve efficiencies and develop a more proficient purchasing platform.
